Aboriginal Cultural Painting Workshop and Mural Project with Gunditjmara Artist, Joey Chatfield

ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP TASTER
This is a taster workshop that leads in to a larger collaborative community project—creating a large mural work for the enLIGHTen Me: I Have a Hall in my Heart project.
Come along, find out about the project and start to learn about Australian indigenous painting techniques including meanings, symbolism and storytelling.
At the end of the workshop, participants will be invited to contribute to the larger mural project in a series of regular programmed and drop-in sessions over a three month period.
ABOUT THE MURAL PROJECT
Gunditjmara artist Joey Chatfield will facilitate programmed sessions with proactive discussions and activities that enhance understanding of aboriginality and respect for Country. Throughout the larger project, participants will acquire knowledge about the dreaming, kinship systems, traditional ways of living, painting techniques, the meaning in paintings, symbols and stories.
For those wanting to be a part of the larger mural project, a story development and design session will take place on Sunday 27th August.
