Come and get your hands dirty with the Oversight Team
Birregurra's "enLIGHTen Me" Small Town Transformation is a big, exciting project that will be running for the next two years! And all of us want to ensure our community has a strong and diverse voice in the delivery of this exciting project.
To help with this, we are reaching out to YOU to fill one of three community positions on the Project Oversight Team. Community members from Birregurra and surrounding towns are invited to nominate.
What is the role?
The purpose of the nomination is to join the existing Oversight Team which currently consists of 8 community members who have been involved in developing the successful submission of Birregurra's Small Town Transformation concept and are now enthusiastic about the delivery of the project.
The team meets Wednesdays each fortnight from 7pm to 9pm. Each team member is involved in one or two aspects of the project delivery depending on their skills and interests.
The objective of the team is to provide an oversight role for governance purposes and an important supporting role to the two appointed Project Managers - Chris Barter (Project Manager of Civil Works & Landscaping) and Fiona Brandscheid (Project Manager of Arts Development).
What is the time commitment?
Approx 2-4hrs per week aside from attending meetings Wednesday evenings each fortnight. Each team member will be assigned key aspects of the project to help deliver depending on their strengths and interests.
Why should I get involved?
Apart from being great experience and a way to be a part of something really exciting and creative that will benefit your community for years to come, it's also a terrific way to make sure your community gets the best possible outcomes.
Do I have to have experience in the Arts to nominate?
No! You don't have to be an artist or involved in the arts. You just have to be passionate about your community and excited about the opportunities this project can deliver. And if you're an artist or involved in the arts, you can nominate as well.
What skills do I need to be involved?
Everyone has something to offer no matter what experience you have. All our communication platforms are online, so one great skill to have is confidence using computers and the ability to find your way around the internet and email.
Apart from that, it's a very broad brush. Skills that would be very advantageous to the project include (but are not limited to):
landscaping
building
arts practice and development
community engagement
youth program development
experience working with kids, teens, seniors or people with disabilities
indigenous and cultural knowledge and experience
project management
risk assessment
technology
marketing, PR and graphic design
technical production and performance
When do nominations close?
Nominations close on Tuesday 23rd August. Feel free to share with your friends and family if you think they would also like to be involved.
I want to be involved but I'm not sure I can commit to the time needed. Can I still be help out?
